Dr. Trina Brown is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a proud graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology. She continued her educational pursuits at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she received a Masters of Arts and a Doctorate degree in Cognition and Developmental Psychology. She is a teaching and research psychologists, consultant and child advocate. She has published work in the areas of Autobiographical Memory and Racial Identity Development. She has also facilitated small and large group workshops on “The Cognition of Racial Bias”, “The Cognition of Resilience”, “The Cognition of Stress Management”, “Living a Meaningful Life: Daily Practices for Improved Health and Wellness”, “The Psychology of Art & Creativity”, and “Dream Analysis for Personal Development”.

Dr. Brown's research interests include most recently, the Psychology of Art & Creativity, as well as Autobiographical Memory, Memory Development, Identity Development, the Impact of Culture on Memory and the Impact of Race-based discrimination on Cognitive and Identity Development. She is currently a Professor of Psychology at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) in Atlanta where she is a member of the Liberal Arts Department. She teaches Introduction to Psychology courses as well as courses on Identity Development, Group Dynamics & the Psychology of Creativity. She also serves as the faculty advisor for the SCAD Atlanta chapter of the national organization, ActiveMinds, which promotes student advocacy on Mental Health issues. In her other work, Dr. Brown has partnered with a youth and community development organization where she develops and implements community programming targeted at combating the long-term cognitive and developmental impact of life-long exposure to race-based discrimination for African American youth, specifically and youth of color broadly, in underserved communities.

Dr. David Ragland co-leads the campaign for Truth & Reparations, which supports Faith & Spiritual Communities around the U.S. to co-create reparative relationships with Black Led Grass roots organizations, as an example of the possibilities of reparations in our time. The campaign has designated two days August 11 & December 22nd as #ReparationSundays. Dr. Ragland is also one of the co-founders and co-directors of the Truth Telling Project, which began in the early days of the Ferguson Uprising to shift the narrative of the protests and police violence. He also taught at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Community Liberation and Eco-Psychology.

In 2019, Dr. Ragland was inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr Collegium of Scholars at Morehouse College. He is a contributing editor for Waging Nonviolence Magazine, co-authored of “Systemic Humiliation in America”, which was listed as part of the most important research on advocacy in the last 40 years Advocacy Labs at Georgetown University, and recently published a chapter on Radical Truth Telling and Ferguson in the “Handbook on Violence in Education.” Dr. Ragland is also a multifaith resident member of the Community of Living Traditions in Stony Point, NY, and has served on the board of directors for the Peace and Justice Studies Association, the Fellowship of Reconciliation’s National Council, and as U.N. Representative for the International Peace Research Association.
